TRIAL INTRODUCTORY FLIGHT

Ready for your very first flight?  Our Trial Introductory Flight (TIF) is an ideal way to discover the joy of flight, learn more about aviation, and what it will take to become a pilot.

There are options for a TIF:

  • Actual flight experience only - 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes
  • Actual flight experience (1 hour) plus ground theory (1 hour) and full motion flight simulator experience (1 hour)

Begin your flight experience by meeting with your instructor, before heading to the aircraft. Together, you'll inspect the surfaces, controls, and instruments of your aircraft before the engine is started. After take-off and once at altitude, you'll be in control of the aircraft for the entirety of this 15 - 30 - 60 -minute flight (under guidance from your instructor, of course). What a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the world of aviation.

Throughout your flight you will orbit Western Port Bay above French Island, viewing the coastline from 1500 feet, taking in some spectacular scenery!

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Start-up procedure - Following the checklist to initiate engine start up (sorry, not available on the 15-minute experience due to time constraints)
  • Radio Communication - Your Instructor will communicate with other pilots in the area on the CTAF Frequency.
  • Taxiing - Movement of the aircraft on ground from the parking bay to the runway in use.
  • Take–off & Climbing - You and your instructor will take off from the active runway and climb to altitude.
  • Departure - Depart Tooradin Airfield circuit pattern via one of the assigned outbound VFR points.
  • Straight and level – Once you arrive at the training area you will get to practice various flight sequences related to Recreational Pilot Certificate (RPC)) training (sorry, not available on the 15-minute experience due to time constraints- instead you will remain in the Circuit area)
  • Returning to Tooradin Airfield - You and your instructor will fly the aircraft to one of the inbound reporting points, broadcast joining circuit pattern.
  • Landing - your instructor will set up the aircraft on approach for landing and demonstrate a landing.

Your actual flight time at the controls (in aircraft) counts as flying time towards your Recreational and/or private pilot’s licence. (Aircraft flight time will be deemed as dual when you make your first entry into a Pilot’s Logbook- available for purchase $35.00)
