HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO BECOME A COMMERCIAL/PRIVATE/RECREATIONAL PILOT

All pilot training courses are competency-based. The cost to obtain a licence is solely dependent on how well you demonstrate competent performance consistently to your flight instructors. Everyone’s learning experience is different, and the total flying time required will be much less if you fly regularly, perhaps up to five times a week! In other words, the more frequently you fly, the sooner you’d get your licence with less cost attached, as you require less revision! Generally, the estimated total cost to get your licence(s) is as follows:

  • Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL) – approx. AUD 10,000
  • Private Pilot Licence (PPL) – approx. AUD 16,000
  • Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) – approx. AUD 60,000
